Statement from Administrator Mills on Continuing Support for Small Businesses through SBA Recovery Programs.
WASHINGTON - SBA issued the following statement today from Administrator Karen Mills regarding efforts to ensure continued funding for two key provisions in the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009:

Nevada Department of Transportation is pleased to present the following opportunities provided by the Small Business Transportation Resource Center, Southwest Region (SBTRC-SW):
The short-term lending program is for certified DBE/8a/Hub Zone/SDVOB firms who have been awarded a transportation contract. Maximum amount of the loan is $750k where the account receivables of the contract are utilized as collateral. the participating lender is National Bank of California. The bank is based in Los Angeles, however they are lending in Arizona and Nevada.
The Bonding assistance program is the certified DBEs who compete on RECOVERY funded DOT projects. Regardless if the DBE firm is not awarded a contract, the US DOT will reimburse any bonding fees associated with the transportation contract. The reimbursement program expires September 8, 2010, thus it is crucial to inform DBEs of this program.

NDOT, in cooperation with the Associated General Contractors Nevada Chapter and the Nevada Procurement Outreach Program, will conduct a Contractor-Subcontractor Meeting and Networking Event.

The following topics will be discussed at the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) economic stimulus package contractor and subcontractor business networking event:
• NDOT and local public agencies from Northern Nevada will provide an overview of upcoming transportation construction projects.
• NDOT will address outreach efforts to encourage contractors to partner with local Disadvantaged Business Enterprise firms and vendors that are interested in bidding for the work on these projects.
• NDOT and local public agencies will be available to discuss the other major projects in Nevada. Representatives will answer questions from the participants about how to approach NDOT, local public agencies and their traditional prime contractors about securing work on these contracts.
The meeting will then break up into a session where subcontractors and suppliers will be able to sit with the prime contractors and discuss their businesses and the services they offer.
This meeting will officially start at 7:30 a.m. with a formal presentation.
